Challenge

The lack of high-quality and reliable childcare has long been a persistent problem in the US. With over 50 million workers raising children under the age of 14, the demand for nannies and babysitters has never been higher. And as parents begin to return to work after the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for effective childcare solutions has become even more pressing. The market of babysitting apps offers an array of options to choose from, but most of them are focused solely on matchmaking services. Our client has come up with an idea of creating a babysitting app that will be a one-stop-shop for everything that parents may need to get the best possible experience with a babysitter. To bring their babysitting app vision to into reality, the client turned to ITRex for mobile development services.

We took on the following challenges:
Develop the back-end for two native iOS/Android mobile applications for parents and babysitters
Implement a real-time communication system to allow users to send and receive data instantly, and make this system scalable
Implement advanced location tracking in a babysitting app
Conduct comprehensive manual testing to check each feature

Solution

The ITRex team has built two separate mobile applications for parents and babysitters and packed them with features according to the client’s vision to bring multiple aspects of babysitting into a single user-friendly interface. The solution allows parents to stay connected with babysitters and manage multiple tasks with ease, providing an innovative and convenient way to handle the responsibilities of childcare. The parent app allows scheduling appointments with a network of babysitters, tracking their provider’s location on a map in real time for added peace of mind, assigning and prioritizing tasks, receiving photos at request, giving feedback, and accessing important information such as babysitters’ contact details and payment records. It also lets parents pay right from their phones. The babysitter app makes it easier for babysitters to provide high-quality childcare services by managing multiple clients, keeping track of their schedules, managing tasks assigned by parents, and sharing pictures. Below is some of the functionality we’ve built in to make all this happen:
A cross-app interaction system that the client can use for building other types of apps where communication between service providers and clients is key
Advanced GPS tracking to determine the precise location of devices being tracked
Task management system
Integrated payment system with in-built calculations to automatically sum up the total number of hours worked by a babysitter
Chat option
